My Friend Earth
My Friend Earth (2020), written by Patricia MacLachlan and illustrated by Francesca Sanna, follows Earth as if she were a living friend who moves through the seasons and tends to life across the planet. The story begins with Earth waking from a winter rest. As the year unfolds, she hears birds singing, feels the spring sun, watches streams fill and rivers flow, and showers the land with summer rain. In autumn, leaves fall and winds blow, and in winter she blankets the world with snow. Along the way, Earth looks after animals great and small and cares for seeds that lie waiting beneath the soil. The narrative traces the cycle of nature from one season to the next, showing how the planet’s rhythms connect all living things.
