Olu & Greta
Olu & Greta (2022), written and illustrated by Diana Ejaita, follows two cousins who live far apart on different continents: Olu in Lagos, Nigeria, and Greta in Milan, Italy. Although they are separated by distance and culture, the book shows how similar their everyday lives and play can be. Both children enjoy activities like roller skating, skipping, and playing with toy trains, trucks, and boats, and they imagine many ways they might be together someday. Because they have not yet met in person, they communicate through letters and virtual connection, sharing thoughts about what they do and dream about. The story contrasts their surroundings while highlighting the parallels in their experiences as cousins who long to meet and play together.
