We're Going on a Leaf Hunt

We’re Going on a Leaf Hunt (2005), written by Steve Metzger and illustrated by Miki Sakamoto, follows three children who set out on an outdoor adventure to collect colourful autumn leaves. As they travel over mountains, through forests, and across rivers, they discover trees with leaves of different shapes, sizes, and colors. Along the way, they encounter small surprises in nature, such as animals and changes in the landscape, but they continue their journey together. With each stop, they gather more leaves and add to their growing collection. The story moves in a rhythmic, repetitive pattern, guiding readers through the children’s exploration of the outdoors. By the end of their adventure, the friends return home with their leaves, celebrating the beauty and variety of the fall season.
